Statue Songy from Congo DRC.
This African wooden statue comes from the Songye ethnic group in the DR Congo. The expressive and elongated face is inlaid with copper nails that give the nkishi most of its magical power. This Songye statue was intended to protect its owner against all perils, especially the risks of the bush.
The Songye ethnic group, also called Kalebwe, is very famous in the field of African art.
